Red Dot Resident Salon Info / FAQ
We are looking for submissions for the salon portion of our end of year show! Not to be confused with the main exhibition that is curated by TK Smith. The salon takes place in the side galleries and is not curated by TK. The goal of the salon is to have work for sale at a lower price point than the main exhibition and to be able to feature any resident who wants to participate, as well as local artists. Red Dot is the only time we sell work during the year. The proceeds from the sale are split evenly between the participating artist and Stove Works.

How do I participate in the Salon?

How do I price my work?
This year, we are setting several different price tiers. When you fill out the Salon form, you will be asked to select from a few price options. If you think your work falls outside of these prices, add a custom number. We never want you to feel pressure to undervalue your work. Our hopes with the tiers are to make it as consistent as possible and to give artists an idea of what type of work we are looking for.
All sales are split 50/50, or residents can donate their portion to Stove Works, but that is not an expectation of ours. If your work doesn't sell, we can return the work, or you can donate it to our archive to be for sale in the next fundraiser.
The Salon price tiers are - $50, $100, $125, $250, (split 50/50)

20 Dollar Bin - everything's 20 bucks (all proceeds go to Stove Works)
What are we looking for?
SALON
What we are looking for: medium to smaller works, works on paper, editioned prints or photographs, zines, studies/sketches, collages, smaller sculptures… really anything that you feel comfortable selling at the price range we’ve set.
Framing is not required. Unframed work will be hung with magnets.
SALON FLASH TATTOOS
Last year, we sent out a form for residents to submit simple line drawings for tattoo flash. For anyone who doesn't know, tattoo flash is a ready-made design available in tattoo shops. These designs are typically repeatable and sometimes can be customized.
We are collecting these designs to create a Stove Works flash sheet. Designs can be of anything. Each design will be sold for $50 (split 50/50). The buyer can get anyone they want to tattoo the design later on, but a previous resident, Stove Works friend, and local tattoo artist, Olivia Tawzer, is down to offer a discounted rate if they were to go to her. Oliva created a simple guide to what sorts of designs would work best.
These designs will automatically be included and don’t need to be included on the salon submission form.
20 DOLLAR BIN
Small sketches, doodles, misprints, zines, whatever. This category is a donation to Stove Works. The sales aren’t split.
These works do not need to be submitted for review and can just be mailed to Stove Works.
Work Selection and Shipping
Submissions are due October 26th and will be reviewed in the following days. By the end of the week, you’ll recieve and email about what work has been chosen for the salon. Each Resident is invited to submit up to 5 pieces for the salon.
Once work is confirmed, please plan for the work to arrive between November 4th and 19th, 2026. Artists are responsible for shipping to Stove Works, if the work does not sell, we cover shipping back to you.
