Programs Description:

walking tour:

We’re scheduling The People’s History Walking Tours, “The History of White Supremacy and Anti-Racist Resistance in Chattanooga”, off-site with Michael Gilliland throughout the duration of this exhibition. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and check the weather, as these events are exclusively outdoors.

Book Club:

We’ll be reading The Unseen Truth: When Race Changed Sight in America by Sarah Lewis in conjunction with this exhibition. We have 10 free copies, courtesy of Harvard University Press, available to the first ten people to commit to joining both discussions. The audiobook is also available through the Chattanooga Public Library.

Inside/Outside:

Inside the Art, Outside Ourselves is a series of workshops that each invite you to spend time reflecting on a specific artwork from our main exhibition. Through guiding prompts and conversation, we encourage you to dig deeper into the work, think meaningfully about the ideas presented, and to respond with drawing or writing exercises. Artists to be featured include Cody Henrichs, Leah Schretenthaler, and Cory Knedler & Young Ae Kim.
