In the Library: Nathan Mileur

  • Stove Works 1250 East 13th Street Chattanooga, TN, 37408 United States (map)

Works from Nathan Mileur are on view in The Library for the month of August.

Nathan Mileur (He/They) is an experimental digital artist from Chattanooga, TN. His practice centers on the transformation of physical, personal, and communal memories into abstract digital forms. Using procedural techniques and a variety of software, his process sculpts sentimental media (tender words from loved ones, organic matter, live sounds, and captured footage) into living digital systems. Nathan’s art is deeply rooted in the relationship of human nature and technology, using abstraction as a tool to translate the complexities of lived experiences.

Raised as a missionary kid in Mangaluru, India - Nathan attended a brief 3D animation program at the age of 13. Since then, he’s pursued digital distortions as a tool to navigate the world beyond the isolation of his childhood. Processing the religious structures of his past, societal expectations, queerness, and the power of truly gentile connection.

Nathan’s work was featured as a part of Stove Work’s Red Dot Fundraiser in 2024, and they will be Stove Work’s local resident for the month of July. Nathan was a featured artist at Monospace Chattanooga’s Dinner Series, and is a regular collaborator in Chattanooga’s local noise scene. This month he’ll be performing live at an Exhibition entitled “Compelled” with Nebulous collective (ATL), as well as providing the visual backdrop for Chattanooga Noise Night.
